Relay

In simultaneous interpretation, relay interpretation is indirect e.g. Arabic speaker on the podium is interpreted into English first and then from English into French instead of directly from Arabic into French. Relay interpretation is the opposite of direct interpretation and it is recommended to minimize the use of relay because it may introduce inaccuracies. Interpreters usually say “to take relay from” e.g. “Yesterday I was taking relay from the Korean booth and they were amazing!”
