Tabletop booth

An substandard non ISO compliant option for a simultaneous interpretation booth. A box with a glass on one side and an opening on the opposite side is installed on top of a desk or a table. Only the interpreter’s upper body is inside the booth. Tabletop booths do not provide sufficient sound insulation and are not recommended for professional work. They are used mostly by cheaper gray market translation companies to cut cost. Working conditions are more difficult for interpreters.
